Baby Food Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2023
The average baby food export price stood at $13,170 per ton in August 2023, jumping by 25% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 36% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15,682 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($17,147 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($5,222 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average baby food import price stood at $8,117 per ton in 2022, surging by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8,744 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($18,979 per ton), while the price for Australia ($4,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in shipments abroad of food preparations for infants, when their volume increased by 3.2% to 91K tons. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt setback.
