The average carbon disulphide import price stood at $7,525 per ton in 2022, reducing by -23.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $13,400 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for India.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for India amounted to +23.2% per year.
Carbon Disulphide Imports in Nepal
In 2022, carbon disulphide imports into Nepal reduced to 40 kg, waning by -11.1% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded slight growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 350% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 45 kg, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, carbon disulphide imports shrank sharply to $301 in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 229% against the previous year.
