Crude Groundnut Oil Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average crude groundnut oil import price stood at $2,022 per ton in July 2023, declining by -4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 7.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,155 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($2,142 per ton), while the price for Brazil totaled $1,945 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Senegal (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Crude Groundnut Oil Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
The average crude groundnut oil export price stood at $3,679 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -37.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $6,091 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($11,329 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malta ($2,645 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+21.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, crude groundnut oil imports into Italy reduced modestly to 37K tons, with a decrease of -3.4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports saw a pronounced shrinkage. The smallest decline of -2.6% was in 2021.
