Dairy Produce Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
The average dairy produce export price stood at $3,956 per ton in 2022, surging by 23% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,720 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($2,531 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dairy Produce Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average dairy produce import price amounted to $6,229 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 27%. The import price peaked at $8,905 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($12,049 per ton), while the price for India ($1,771 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dairy Produce Exports in the United States
For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in shipments abroad of dairy produce, which increased by 2.4% to 1.6M tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, dairy produce exports soared to $6.2B in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +65.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
