Eggplant Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
The average eggplant import price stood at $1,563 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, eggplant import price increased by +81.2% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 31%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,899 per ton), while the price for North Macedonia ($640 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Albania (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Eggplant Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average eggplant export price amounted to $518 per ton, dropping by -8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, eggplant export price increased by +62.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $625 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($911 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($405 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Eggplant Imports in Serbia
In 2022, overseas purchases of eggplants (aubergines) decreased by -18.6% to 690 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports saw a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15% against the previous year.
