Fructose Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $775 per ton in May 2023, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $862 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to May 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,286 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($529 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022
The average fructose export price stood at $2,551 per ton in 2022, declining by -13.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 207% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,505 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,517 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,971 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in the Philippines
In 2022, the amount of fructose and fructose syrup imported into the Philippines totaled 95K tons, picking up by 4.2% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 6.2%.
In value terms, fructose imports skyrocketed to $74M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
