Maize Oil Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average maize oil export price stood at $1,417 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -13.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,227 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Israel ($1,862 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($1,108 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Maize Oil Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average maize oil import price amounted to $1,314 per ton, reducing by -72.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 242% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $16,062 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to 0.0% per month.
Maize Oil Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 64K tons of maize oil were exported from Turkey; dropping by -20.4% on 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 80K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, maize oil exports contracted to $123M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 71%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $130M, and then reduced in the following year.
