Non-Cane Molasses Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
The average non-cane molasses export price stood at $188 per ton in 2022, rising by 1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $365 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($401 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya amounted to $148 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kenya (+6.1%).
Non-Cane Molasses Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average non-cane molasses import price amounted to $399 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 101%. The import price peaked at $595 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($987 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($4.8 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+15.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Cane Molasses Exports in Uganda
In 2022, approx. 196 tons of molasses (excluding cane molasses) were exported from Uganda; waning by -44.7% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 844% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 354 tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, non-cane molasses exports contracted rapidly to $37K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 697% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $65K, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

Non-Cane Molasses Imports in Uganda
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of molasses (excluding cane molasses) decreased by -36.9% to 5.9 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 199% against the previous year.
In value terms, non-cane molasses imports reduced markedly to $2.3K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 255% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.7K, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
