In 2022, the average palm kernel oil import price amounted to $2,193 per ton, jumping by 47% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, palm kernel oil import price increased by +97.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,870 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,993 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Palm Kernel Oil Imports in Belarus
In 2022, overseas purchases of palm kernel and babassu oil decreased by -88.7% to 73 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 899 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
