Palm Oil Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average palm oil import price amounted to $1,426 per ton, waning by -6.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,016 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Ecuador ($1,610 per ton) and the Netherlands ($1,569 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,146 per ton) and Spain ($1,491 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Palm Oil Price in Portugal (FOB) - 2022
The average palm oil export price stood at $2,477 per ton in 2022, growing by 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a temperate increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 83%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($3,915 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,444 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Angola (+10.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Palm Oil Imports in Portugal
In 2022, imports of palm oil into Portugal declined significantly to 21K tons, falling by -45% compared with 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 10% against the previous year.
