Preserved Salmon Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average preserved salmon import price amounted to $9,389 per ton, increasing by 6.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $11,047 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Thailand ($10,624 per ton) and the UK ($9,534 per ton), while the price for China ($7,230 per ton) and the United States ($9,006 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Preserved Salmon Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
The average preserved salmon export price stood at $10,541 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $12,645 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,365 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($7,026 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
