Price for Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in the UK (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average export price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) amounted to $3,530 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 36% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,163 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($6,726 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($617 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average import price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) amounted to $3,085 per ton, falling by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 19% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $3,380 per ton in July 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,887 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($659 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in the UK
In 2022, shipments abroad of cereal grain products (including corn flakes) decreased by -1.6% to 269K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 305K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, corn flakes and cereal products exports shrank modestly to $762M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 8.1%.
