In 2022, the average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater export price amounted to $29,145 per ton, rising by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $40,583 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($63,021 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($8,047 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+20.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater import price stood at $9,429 per ton in 2022, reducing by -15.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $19,745 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($23,050 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($4,200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Fish; Live, Ornamental, Freshwater in Sri Lanka
In 2022, the amount of fish; live, ornamental, freshwater exported from Sri Lanka reached 522 tons, approximately mirroring the year before. Overall, exports posted a buoyant increase.
