In July 2023, the average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater import price amounted to $68,514 per ton, rising by 2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 55% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $99,792 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($69,939 per ton), while the price for Israel ($27,199 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+26.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $284,351 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($225,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($27,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
