Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 99% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,296 per ton. From April 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,892 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,505 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In November 2023, the average export price for lauryl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and other saturated monohydric alcohols (excluding methyl, propyl and isopropyl, n-butyl, other butanols, octyl) amounted to $1,649 per ton, which is down by -30.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 64% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,387 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,269 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,182 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
