The average import price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled stood at $5,906 per ton in January 2024, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,014 per ton. From September 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($6,700 per ton), while the price for Poland totaled $5,658 per ton.
From March 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled amounted to $7,075 per ton, with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The export price peaked at $16,360 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($10,961 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($6,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (-5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
