In 2022, the average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $1,437 per ton, with an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,484 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to South Sudan ($1,578 per ton) and Tanzania ($1,576 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($1,223 per ton) and Rwanda ($1,319 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($4,958 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($533 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
