Garlic Production in Indonesia - 2022
In 2022, production of garlic decreased by -32.2% to 31K tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, production, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak volume at 61K tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum. Garlic output in Indonesia indicated resilient growth, which was largely conditioned by prominent growth of the harvested area and a pronounced decrease in yield figures.
In value terms, garlic production surged to $73M in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 130%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $85M. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Garlic Harvested Area in Indonesia - 2022
In 2022, approx. 4.3K ha of garlic were harvested in Indonesia; reducing by -37.8% against the previous year. In general, the harvested area, however, showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the harvested area increased by 134% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to garlic production reached the maximum at 7.3K ha in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the harvested area remained at a lower figure.
Garlic Yield in Indonesia - 2022
In 2022, the average garlic yield in Indonesia totaled 7.2 tons per ha, picking up by 9.1% compared with the year before. Overall, the yield, however, continues to indicate a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, the average garlic yield hit record highs at 9.1 tons per ha in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the yield failed to regain momentum.
