Rare Gases Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average rare gases export price amounted to $9.6 per cubic meter, which is down by -26.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 73%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $20 per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($4.3 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average rare gases import price amounted to $15 per cubic meter, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 104%. The import price peaked at $31 per cubic meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($22 per cubic meter), while the price for Germany ($6.6 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Rare Gases Exports in the Netherlands
For the fourth consecutive year, the Netherlands recorded growth in overseas shipments of rare gases (excluding argon), which increased by 5.1% to 4M cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 145% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, rare gases exports contracted rapidly to $38M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 179% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $52M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Rare Gases Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, overseas purchases of rare gases (excluding argon) decreased by -38.2% to 1.3M cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 347% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 2.1M cubic meters in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, rare gases imports fell notably to $20M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 256% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $46M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
