The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 15%. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 3K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, silver nitrate production dropped to $487M in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the production volume increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $542M, and then reduced in the following year.
Production By Country
The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were the United States (744 tons), France (501 tons) and Belgium (471 tons), with a combined 57% share of global production.

Imports
World Imports of Silver Nitrate
Global silver nitrate imports fell to 1.1K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -11.1% against the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, Canada (319 tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (198 tons), Italy (66 tons), France (60 tons), Germany (58 tons) and Belgium (56 tons) represented the main importers of silver nitrate, together achieving 66% of total imports. India (45 tons), Poland (45 tons), Spain (44 tons), the Czech Republic (35 tons), the UK (30 tons) and Singapore (22 tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +40.7%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($91M) constitutes the largest market for imported silver nitrate worldwide, comprising 41% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($19M), with an 8.4% share of global imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.1% share.
In the Netherlands, silver nitrate imports increased at an average annual rate of +96.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-14.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (-5.5% per year).

The average silver nitrate import price stood at $196,225 per ton in 2022, falling by -24.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $341,082 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($523,552 per ton), while Canada ($17,413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The shipments of the five major exporters of silver nitrate, namely France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
