Uncured Cheese Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average uncured cheese export price amounted to $4,672 per ton, rising by 3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.9% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,444 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Panama ($5,673 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($3,430 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Uncured Cheese Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average uncured cheese import price amounted to $6,271 per ton, shrinking by -10.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,089 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($15,007 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,560 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Uncured Cheese Exports in the United States
In 2022, the amount of unripened or uncured cheese exported from the United States contracted slightly to 120K tons, approximately reflecting 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 3.6% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 120K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, uncured cheese exports soared to $600M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
