In general, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-propelled vehicle exports totaled $X in 2023. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

In 2023, Poland (X units) was the largest exporter of vehicles not mechanically propelled, constituting X% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Romania (X%), Russia (X%) and Lithuania (X%). The following exporters - Bulgaria (X units) and Slovakia (X units) - together made up X% of total exports.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Romania (X%), Bulgaria (X%), the Czech Republic (X%), Lithuania (X%), Russia (X%) and Slovakia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Poland (X p.p.) and Romania (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia and Slovakia saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2023, purchases abroad of vehicles not mechanically propelled increased by X% to X units for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Lithuania (X units), Ukraine (X units), Belarus (X units), Bulgaria (X units), Hungary (X units) and Slovakia (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Bulgaria (X%), Belarus (X%), Poland (X%), Romania (X%), Slovakia (X%), the Czech Republic (X%) and Lithuania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Hungary (X%) and Ukraine (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Belarus and Slovakia increased by X, X, X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2023, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, reducing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
