From 2016 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, garlic exports surged to $X in 2023. In general, exports saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons), together constituting an X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
Exports from Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Thailand (X%), Myanmar (X%), Vietnam (X%) and Singapore (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Myanmar (X p.p.), Thailand (X p.p.) and Singapore (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.
