As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, oil crops exports soared to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Togo (X tons) and Sudan (X tons) represented the main exporters of oil crops (primary) in 2022, resulting at near X% and X% of total exports, respectively. Nigeria (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by South Africa (X tons), Benin (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons), Tanzania (X tons) and Mozambique (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Chad (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Togo (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sudan ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Ethiopia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for X% of total exports. South Africa, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Chad, Togo and Benin lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Togo, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chad ($X per ton), while Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Africa
After eight years of growth, overseas purchases of oil crops (primary) decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, oil crops imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Egypt dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. Algeria (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an X% share, followed by Tunisia (X%).
Imports into Egypt increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Algeria (X%) and Tunisia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. While the share of Algeria (X p.p.) and Egypt (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Tunisia (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Egypt ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oil crops (primary) in Africa, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Algeria ($X), with a X% share of total imports.
