Exports by Country
China was the major exporter of plywood in Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X cubic meters, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X cubic meters) and Vietnam (X cubic meters), together comprising a X% share of total exports. Malaysia (X cubic meters) took a little share of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Indonesia (X%) and Malaysia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (X p.p.) and China (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia and Indonesia saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.
In value terms, the largest plywood supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2018 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2023, South Korea (X cubic meters), distantly followed by Japan (X cubic meters), Thailand (X cubic meters), the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters), Taiwan (Chinese) (X cubic meters) and the Philippines (X cubic meters) were the main importers of plywood, together making up X% of total imports. Vietnam (X cubic meters), Malaysia (X cubic meters), Kazakhstan (X cubic meters), Turkey (X cubic meters), India (X cubic meters), China (X cubic meters) and Saudi Arabia (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, together accounting for X% of total imports. The Philippines, Taiwan (Chinese), the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Turkey, India, China, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
The Philippines, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per cubic meter in 2023, reducing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 an increase of X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter, and then declined in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per cubic meter), while Thailand ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
