In 2023, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) was the major exporter of phosphorus, arsenic and selenium, generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), creating a X% share of total exports.
Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Turkey (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

At the same time, Iraq (X%), the United Arab Emirates (X%), Israel (X%) and Egypt (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Iran (X%) and Tunisia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (X p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.), Iraq (X p.p.), Israel (X p.p.) and Egypt (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Tunisia (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest phosphorus, arsenic and selenium importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Egypt ($X) and Iran ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Israel, Iraq and Tunisia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
Among the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
