Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

South Africa prevails in exports structure, finishing at X litres, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. Mozambique (X litres) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Zimbabwe (X%). Namibia (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Mozambique (X%) and Zimbabwe (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Namibia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively.

Imports in SADC
Beer imports surged to X litres in 2023, rising by X% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2020 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, beer imports totaled $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable decrease. Botswana represented the key importer of beer in SADC, with the volume of imports recording X litres, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. South Africa (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Zambia (X%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%). Tanzania (X litres), Swaziland (X litres) and Lesotho (X litres) took a minor share of total imports.
