As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crane exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2023, South Africa (X units) represented the largest exporter of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane, constituting X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Namibia (X units), Zambia (X units), Angola (X units), Mozambique (X units), Madagascar (X units) and Tanzania (X units), together creating a X% share of total exports.

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Madagascar (X%), Angola (X%), Namibia (X%), Tanzania (X%) and Mozambique (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Madagascar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Zambia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crane imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2023, South Africa (X units), distantly followed by Tanzania (X units), Zimbabwe (X units), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Angola (X units), Mozambique (X units), Namibia (X units) and Zambia (X units) were the main importers of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane, together mixing up X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Zimbabwe (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
