Cassava Market Size in Southern Asia

The South Asian cassava market totaled $X in 2023, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a mild setback. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Cassava Production in Southern Asia

Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cassava exports rose rapidly to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cassava imports soared to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the one major importers of cassava, namely Maldives, represented more than two-thirds of total import.

Maldives was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cassava imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. Maldives (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
